KOHKOH Exhibition Thinking About The Light

ギャラリードゥポワソンではこのたび、KOHKOH（コウコウ）による初めての個展となる「Thinking About The Light」を開催いたします。

KOHKOHは、国際的に活躍するジュエリーアーティストである小嶋崇嗣がプロデュースする２０２３年に設立されたジュエリーブランドです。ブランド自ら養殖している真珠を主な素材としているのがKOHKOHの大きな特徴。そして、役目を終えた真珠母貝もリサイクルし同価値のジュエリーに仕立てていることがもう一つの特徴とも言えます。

ブランド設立に先立ち、２０１８年より独自の真珠養殖を開始し、２０２１年に特許技術を取得しました。３Dプリンターを用いて文字や図形を造形し、その周囲に真珠層を形成することで自由な形状の真珠養殖に成功し、“真珠は丸い”という概念を覆す革新的なデザインを実現可能にしました。養殖には約半年かかり、自然養殖のため貝ごとに色味や巻き方が異なります。その中から特に美しく巻かれた真珠を厳選して素材としています。この技術を応用し、クォーツなどの天然石に真珠を被せるように組み合わせたジオメトリックなリングなど、K18 goldやシルバーをベースにした大胆でエレガントなジュエリーを展開しています。

また、母貝を用いたカメオもKOHKOHを代表するジュエリーのひとつ。真珠を取り出した後の母貝は通常廃棄されるものですが、そこに素材としての新たな魅力を見出し、オリジナリティ溢れるジュエリーを生み出しました。カメオは曲線が優美なものから、面取りで直線的に表現されたものまでさまざま。母貝一枚一枚を丁寧に調整し、特殊な切削技術から作られるカメオのペンダントやリングは、精密かつ繊細なアートピースです。

そのほか、母貝のリサイクルの歴史の中で多く活用されてきた「ボタン」にも着目。シェルボタンを用いたジュエリーも発表されます。

国際的に活躍するジュエリーアーティストである小嶋崇嗣がプロデュースする２０２３年に設立されたジュエリーブランド。ブランド設立に先立ち、２０１８年に真珠養殖を開始、２０２１年に真珠養殖の特許技術を取得。自ら養殖している真珠を主要な題材とし、革新的な技術と想像力を駆使したジュエリーを制作。美しいだけではなく持続可能性にも焦点を当てたもの作りを特徴とする。２０２３年 「New Jewelry TOKYO 2023」にてブランドを初披露した。
